Following Jesus – learning to be apprentices of the Master
I wonder what language you use to describe your relationship with Jesus?
It’s become normal nowadays to use the word “Christian” but those who first responded to Jesus’ call were termed “disciples” and in the books of Acts they are referred to as “followers of the Way” (Acts 22:4; 24:14).
A disciple is a learner – not simply learning knowledge and facts but learning a way of life. More like an apprentice learns the way of the Master. And so, as Jesus calls people to follow him, those who respond walk with Jesus to learn his way in every aspect of life. As a rabbi shaped the lives those who walked with him, so Jesus wants to shape our lives in his image.
In this series, we will be encouraged and challenged to become apprentices of Jesus the Master and seek to shape our lives around his character and values.
